VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 6 is almost here and teams will be deep in planning to pick the best squad for this season. While some teams retained a few of their star players, others wiped the slate clean and will look to start from scratch in the upcoming auction. While all the fans will be waiting with bated breath to see which players form their favourite team this season, some players who have made a name for themselves over the years will be up for grabs this time around and could easily invite a huge bidding war. Here we look at a few of these gems and what they have to offer.

1. Rahul Chaudhari

The Raid Machine has been one of the most prolific raiders the sport of kabaddi has ever seen, claiming 666 raid points from the 5 seasons he has been involved in so far. His pace, agility and deadly running hand touch are enough to fox even the best of defenders.

He was a part of the Telugu Titans since the first season and hence out of bounds for the other teams. But now he will be available in the auctions and expect bids for him to go through the roof.

2. Surender Nada

When it comes to corner defence, Surender Nada could write his own text-book on the topic. He has one of the most effective ankle holds in the world currently. If his record of five straight High 5s at the beginning of Season 5 isn’t intimidating enough, the 80 tackle points he had to his name, making him the best defender, should be.

Nada was also the captain of Haryana Steelers last season and teams looking for a leader will definitely put their hat in the ring when it comes to the defender.

3. Fazel Atrachali

An overseas player who has had one of the biggest impacts on VIVO Pro Kabaddi, Fazel Atrachali is the perfect mix of brain and brawn. He can dash opponent raiders off the mat and initiate an ankle or thigh hold with equal efficiency. He even led Gujarat Fortunegiants to the final in Season 5, proving how good he can be at the helm of a young team.

Atrachali’s proven track record with U Mumba, Patna Pirates and now Gujarat Fortunegiants will surely fetch him a good price in the coming auction.

4. Monu Goyat

Patna Pirates’ second-in-command to Pardeep Narwal, Monu Goyat was an extremely effective raider who backed up Narwal’s efforts with some deadly raiding of his own. His performances were often overshadowed by Narwal’s, but Goyat was the season’s fourth most successful raider in spite of Narwal doing the bulk of the raiding for the Pirates.

Teams will be licking their lips at the prospect of picking up the raider at a reasonable price since Patna have already retained 4 players from their previous squad this time around.

5. Anup Kumar

Captain Cool Anup Kumar is an asset to any team. He has earned his title by leading U Mumba to the VIVO Pro Kabaddi title in Season 2 and leading India to a Kabaddi World Cup victory in 2016. Also referred to as ‘Bonus ka Baadshah’ for his uncanny ability to pick up a bonus point with minimum risk, Kumar is one of the most complete players, willing to pitch-in in both raiding and defence. He was also among the players that crossed the 100-point mark in Season 5, finishing with 135 points from the 21 games he played.

Anup Kumar’s leadership ability will make him an apt mentor for a young team and his ability to bring his experience into play when it matters the most is something that will give his team the X-factor required in the league.
