The 71st Senior National Men's Kabaddi Championship kicked off in Cuttack, Odisha, on Thursday, February 20.

Pawan Sehrawat (Chandigarh), Arjun Deshwal (Uttar Pradesh), Ashu Malik (Haryana), Devank Dalal (Services), Guman Singh (Railways), Bhavani Rajput (Goa), Ankit Jaglan (Services) and Yogesh Dahiya (Haryana) are some top kabaddi stars representing their respective teams in the four-day kabaddi extravaganza which will run till February 23.

As many as 30 teams are competing in the 71st Senior National Men's Kabaddi Championship. These participating teams have been divided into eight pools, two pools featuring three teams each, and four each in six other pools.

The top two teams from each pool will qualify for the pre-quarter-finals. The winner of the pre-quarter-finals will then advance to the quarter-finals, followed by the semi-finals and the final.

All matches in the 71st Senior National Men's Kabaddi Championship will be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack, Odisha.

Meanwhile, hosts Odisha began their campaign in an emphatic fashion as they thrashed Vidarbha 57-28 in a Pool F fixture.

Defending champions Haryana, led by their star raider Ashu Malik, decimated Telangana 50-20 in a Pool A clash on Thursday.

Last edition’s finalists, Railways also registered a comfortable victory as they beat Manipur 50-15 in a Pool B fixture on the opening day.

Later in Pool C, Maharashtra started their tournament with a hard-fought 38-35 victory over Kerala.

Elsewhere in Pool D, the Pawan Sehrawat-led Chandigarh defeated Gujarat 40-24 while Madhya Pradesh secured a 59-35 win over Andhra Pradesh to wrap up an exciting day of action.
