Services won the 71st Senior National Men’s Kabaddi Championship after they beat Railways in a nail-biting final at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack, Odisha on Sunday, February 23.

Led by their captain Naveen Kumar, Services rode on an all-round team performance to defeat Railways 30-30 (6-4) in a thrilling final.

With the win, Services clinched the Senior National Men’s Kabaddi Championship for the first time since 2015.

However, last edition’s finalists Railways earlier started the final on a good note as they took a 16-12 lead in the first half before Services bounced back in style.

Featuring a star-studded squad with the likes of Devank Dalal, Bharat Hooda, Rahul Sethpal, Ankit Jaglan, Jaideep Dahiya and skipper Naveen in their ranks, Services came from behind to tie the game 30-30. Later, Services pipped Railways 6-4 in a tie-breaker to bag the coveted gold medal.

Earlier in the day, Services stormed into the 71st Senior National Men’s Kabaddi Championship Final after they registered a comfortable 43-35 victory over Punjab in the first semi-final.

On the other hand, Railways defeated Uttar Pradesh 42-34 in a hard-fought second semi-final to qualify for their sixth consecutive final.

Semi-Final 1: Services beat Punjab 43-35

Semi-Final 2: Railways beat Uttar Pradesh 42-34

Final: Services beat Railways 30-30 (6-4)
