71st Senior National Men’s Kabaddi Championship, Day 2 Updates: Haryana, Railways enter Round of 16

The 71st Senior National Men's Kabaddi Championship kicked off in Cuttack, Odisha, on Thursday, February 20.

Pawan Sehrawat (Chandigarh), Arjun Deshwal (Uttar Pradesh), Ashu Malik (Haryana), Devank Dalal (Services), Guman Singh (Railways), Bhavani Rajput (Goa), Ankit Jaglan (Services) and Yogesh Dahiya (Haryana) are some top kabaddi stars that are participating for their respective teams in the four-day kabaddi extravaganza that will conclude on February 23.

Services defeated Chhattisgarh 70-33 in the opening match of Day 2 of the 71st Senior National Men's Kabaddi Championship on Friday.

Featuring a star-studded squad with the likes of Naveen Kumar, Devank Dalal, Bharat Hooda, Rahul Sethpal, Ankit Jaglan and Jaideep Dahiya, Services later beat Goa 47-36 in their second Pool E match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack.

Led by their star raider Ashu Malik, Haryana continued their impressive form as they secured a 39-19 victory over Delhi in a Pool A fixture to book their place in the Round of 16. Earlier, Haryana overcame Telangana 50-20 in a Pool A clash on Thursday.

After registering a comfortable victory over Manipur in a Pool B fixture on the opening day, last edition’s finalists Railways beat Bihar 45-27 in their second clash to enter the Round of 16.

Elsewhere in Pool H, the Rahul Chaudhari-led Uttar Pradesh edged Assam 35-19 and later pipped Tamil Nadu 45-43 in a thrilling encounter on Friday.

A total of 26 matches were played on Day 2 while the remaining pool matches will be held on Saturday.

The top two teams from each pool will qualify for the pre-quarter-finals. The winner of the pre-quarter-finals will then advance to the quarter-finals, followed by the semi-finals and the final.
