The Season 6 titleholders will be looking to make a mark this edition riding on big buy Vikash Kandola. Bengaluru Bulls had a clear strategy going into the auction as they also went after numerous category C players, especially raiders. With legendary coach Randhir Singh Sehrawat at helm, fans’ expectation will be sky high this season.
In this article, we take a close look at the team composition and how well-balanced it is for action in Season 9.
The Vikash Kandola boost
Bengaluru Bulls did well to secure the services of Vikash Kandola for ₹1.70 crores as his bid was the most expensive at the time only to be surpassed by Pawan Sehrawat’s bid moments later. Having performed more than 1000 raids (1240), the ace raider has 16 Super Raids and 25 Super 10s to his name. He also has close to 600 Total Raid Points (597) to boast of. The star-studded raider is all set to live up to coach Randhir Singh Sehrawat’s expectations.
Youth-focused attack
Vikash’s biggest raiding partner will be Bharat who was tactically retained by the team. More G B too with his experience will shape Bengaluru Bulls’ attack a deadly one. The team will also rely on the Nepalese raiding duo of Nageshor Tharu and Lal Mohar Yadav who were picked up at their base price. Neeraj Narwal who was snapped after an intense bidding war will be looking to continue his fine form as he did for Dabang Delhi K. C. As a do-or-die specialist, he’s surely going to be second-in-command to Vikash.
At their base prices, Rahul Khatik and Sachin Narwal were picked as all-rounders. While this will be a debut season for Rahul Khatik, Sachin Narwal will look make a mark after his stint with Jaipur Pink Panthers previous season.
The trusted defence
Going into the Player Auction, Bengaluru Bulls had retained most of their defenders. Here’s a trivia - of the 10 players that they had retained, 8 were defenders. The team would be banking heavily on services of Left Corner specialist Saurabh Nandal as well as the veteran Mahender Singh to lead the department. A lot would be expected from NYPs (New Young Players) Rajnesh, Yash Hooda and Aman to tighten the defence. This season will be great learning for Sudhakar Kadam who was the only defender purchased in the Player Auction by the team.
By not utilizing any of their FBM cards, Bengaluru Bulls have gone bold especially for a fresh look raiding contingent. This combined with their retained defenders makes the two-time finalists a team to watch out for.
