Uttar Pradesh defeated defending champions Services in the first semi-final of the men’s kabaddi event at the 38th National Games in Haridwar, Uttarakhand on Saturday, February 1.
Under the leadership of Arjun Deshwal, Uttar Pradesh pipped a star-studded Services outfit 43-42 in a nail-biting semi-final clash at the Yogasthali Khel Parisar, Roshnabad Stadium to secure a spot in the men’s kabaddi final.
Featuring the likes of Devank Dalal, Rahul Sethpal, Jaideep Dahiya, Ankit Jaglan, Bharat Hooda, Nitin Jaglan and Arjun Rathi, Services took a 21-18 lead in the first half of the semi-final against Uttar Pradesh.
However, captain Arjun Deshwal later led from the front with an impressive performance in the second half to help Uttar Pradesh book their place in the men’s kabaddi final by just a solitary point.
On the other hand, Chandigarh stormed into the men’s kabaddi final at the National Games 2025 with a comprehensive win over last edition’s finalist Haryana on Saturday.
Led by their talismanic skipper Pawan Sehrawat, Chandigarh dominated Haryana in the first half with a scoreline of 31-14 in the second semi-final in Haridwar.
While Haryana produced a valiant effort in the second half, it wasn’t enough as Chandigarh continued their unbeaten run with a 52-37 victory to secure their place in the summit clash.
Meanwhile, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh will square off for the coveted gold medal in the men’s kabaddi event to be staged at the Yogasthali Khel Parisar, Roshnabad Stadium on Sunday, February 2.
