Telugu Titans had a forgettable campaign last year as they finished at the bottom of the Pro Kabaddi Season 9 standings. The Titans will be keen on a fresh start in PKL’s 10th edition as they look to put things right in what promises to be another action-packed and captivating Pro Kabaddi season ahead.

Looking to start with a clean slate, the Titans retained just five players ahead of the Season 10 Player Auction. From the Elite Retained Players (ERP) category Parvesh Bhainswal was the only player who the Titans didn’t let go of, while Rajnish was their sole player retained in the Retained Young Players (RYP) category.

Meanwhile, Mohit, Nitin and Vinay were retained from the Existing New Young Players category. Telugu Titans didn’t make use of their Final Bid Match (FBM) cards at the Season 10 Player Auction but secured the services of a few quality players for the landmark 10th season of PKL.

Prolific Raiders

Telugu Titans bought one of the biggest Pro Kabaddi stars in Pawan Sehrawat at the Player Auction. The Titans made the Hi-Flyer, as Pawan Sehrawat is fondly known, the most expensive player in PKL history by signing him for ₹2.605 crore ahead of Season 10. He’s been named as the captain of the team and will be expected to lead by example and do the bulk of scoring. Pawan Sehrawat is among the top five raid point scorers in PKL history with 987 raid points so far and he will be supported in attack by Rajnish, who has scored 171 raid points in his career so far.

The Titans’ Vinay is another quality raider who showed his potential in his debut season last year with 38 raid points. He will be eager to kick on in the upcoming season and play his role in attack for the Titans alongside Pawan Sehrawat and Rajnish.

New-look Defence

On paper, the Titans have more options in defence than their attack. Their top Season 9 defender Parvesh Bhainswal will be entrusted to marshall his defensive troops and add to his 302 tackle points in PKL so far. He amassed 54 tackle points, including 10 Super Tackles and six High 5s last year but will be eager to put on better displays in the season ahead with the help of a more settled team.

All-rounder Shankar Gadai who scored 21 tackle points in his debut PKL season last year will also be hoping to take his game to the next level with the Titans. Furthermore, both Mohit and Nitin who made their Pro Kabaddi bow with the Titans in the last campaign will also be looking to step up and contribute to the team’s defence with some robust tackling and intelligent defending in the landmark 10th edition of PKL. Iranian duo Hamid Nader and Milad Jabbari could also surprise a few opposition raiders by making their presence felt for the Titans in defence.

All things said, the expectations for the Titans will be high with superstar Pawan Sehrawat spearheading their raiding unit. Coach Srinivas Reddy will need to get the best out of experienced heads like Pawan Sehrawat and Parvesh Bhainswal while also nurturing youngsters who will have a role to play if Telugu Titans are to make it a campaign to remember in Pro Kabaddi Season 10.
