Pro Kabaddi League has been home to some of the world-class talents from across the globe since its inception in 2014. Among these, all-rounders have been a key asset in a team’s success. Having quality and skilled all-rounders who can effectively contribute both offensively and defensively is essential to challenge for the coveted PKL title as they help with the balance of the side and also make for a more cohesive unit. The Pro Kabaddi Season 11 also witnessed some spectacular performances from the all-rounders, and here we look at the top five all-rounders from the season.
Vijay Malik - Telugu Titans
All-rounder Vijay Malik was one of the standout players in Pro Kabaddi Season 11. After Telugu Titans’ captain Pawan Sehrawat was injured during the recently concluded season, vice-captain Vijay Malik led from the front as he took his raiding to another level. While the Titans later missed the Playoffs by a whisker as they finished seventh in the PKL 11 standings, Malik emerged as the sixth-best raider in the league with 172 points in 22 matches, including seven Super 10s and two Super Raids. The Titans stand-in captain also showcased his all-round capabilities with 11 tackle points and one Super Tackle to his name.
Mohammadreza Shadloui - Haryana Steelers
Having redefined the definition of an all-rounder, Mohammadreza Shadloui was one of the main reasons behind Haryana Steelers’ maiden PKL triumph in Season 11. While Shadloui’s defensive prowess was never in doubt, the Iranian powerhouse once again impressed with his brilliant raiding skills. While the Steelers all-rounder finished the campaign as the leading tackle point scorer with 82 tackle points, including four Super Tackles and five High 5s, he also contributed with 57 raid points. With his remarkable consistency both offensively and defensively, Shadloui bagged the well-deserved title of Most Valuable Player (MVP) for Season 11.
Ashish Narwal - Telugu Titans
Another Telugu Titans player who is adept on both ends of the mat, Ashish Narwal went about his business in seamless fashion after finishing with 138 total points in Season 11. The 24-year-old all-rounder hogged the limelight with 120 raid points in 22 matches, including two Super 10s and five Super Raids. Apart from his impressive raiding credentials, Ashish Narwal raised a few eyebrows with his defensive prowess which saw him register 18 tackle points with a decent tackle success rate of 43%. The Telugu Titans all-rounder could be one of the decisive players in the upcoming editions of the league.
Moein Shafaghi - Tamil Thalaivas
Tamil Thalaivas unearthed a gem in Moein Shafaghi in Pro Kabaddi Season 11. The Iranian kabaddi star grabbed eyeballs and was in headlines with his superb all-round abilities despite Tamil Thalaivas’ underwhelming campaign as they finished ninth in the Season 11 standings. One of the top all-rounders to emerge from PKL Season 11, Shafaghi managed 113 points - 103 raid and 10 tackle points - in the campaign, including four Super 10s and four Super Raids. Additionally, Shafaghi also showcased his defensive qualities in the Thalaivas’ backline to contribute with crucial tackle points in the 14 matches that he featured in Season 11.
Mohit Goyat - Puneri Paltan
Puneri Paltan’s Mohit Goyat was one of the top all-rounders who contributed on both ends of the mat in the recently concluded season. While PKL Season 10 champions Puneri Paltan failed to qualify for the Playoffs after they finished eighth this season, Goyat further enhanced his reputation with his all-round capabilities. The 23-year-old showcased his outstanding raiding skills in PKL Season 11 as he accumulated 83 raid points, including two Super Raids.
