Patna Pirates’ Deepak Singh, Gurdeep lead the way for top cover duos from PKL Season 11

Pro Kabaddi Season 11 witnessed some impressive pairings that were established on the mat which helped in the success of their respective teams. Few of these partnerships were forged by the cover defenders. While the stellar work put in by these cover defenders sometimes goes unnoticed, they play a crucial role in completing a well-rounded kabaddi team. It’s always a treat for the viewers whenever a cover initiates a chain tackle or a dash against any raider. With that in mind, let’s have a look at some of the top cover duos from PKL Season 11.

Deepak Singh and Gurdeep - Patna Pirates

Patna Pirates’ Deepak Singh and Gurdeep emerged as one of the best cover duos in Pro Kabaddi Season 11. Right cover Deepak delivered consistent performances on the mat for the three-time PKL champions. He ended the season with 64 tackle points in 25 matches, including 4 High 5s and 1 Super Tackle.

While Deepak was rock solid in defence, his cover partner Gurdeep also enjoyed a great campaign for the Pirates. All-rounder Gurdeep contributed with 33 tackle points, 2 Super Tackles and 2 High 5s. The cover duo of Deepak and Gurdeep combined for 97 tackle points in total to guide the Pirates to their fifth PKL final.

Reza Mirbagheri and Surjeet Singh - Jaipur Pink Panthers

Jaipur Pink Panthers’ Reza Mirbagheri and Surjeet Singh combined to become one of the leading cover duos in Pro Kabaddi Season 11. Iranian defender Reza Mirbagheri, who has been one of the strong pillars of the Panthers’ defence in the past few seasons, continued his outstanding form in PKL Season 11. Mirbagheri wrapped up the season with 58 tackle points in 23 matches, comprising 4 Super Tackles and 2 High 5s.

Mirbagheri was ably supported by his fellow right cover Surjeet Singh in the recently concluded season. Surjeet was equally effective on the mat and contributed with 39 tackle points. Their collective 97 tackle points helped the Pink Panthers finish sixth on the PKL Season 11 points table and squeeze into the playoffs.

Sanjay Dhull and Jaideep Dahiya - Haryana Steelers

The cover duo of Sanjay Dhull and Jaideep Dahiya played a pivotal role in guiding Haryana Steelers to their maiden PKL triumph in Season 11. Sanjay was one of the standout performers for the Steelers in their title-winning campaign. The Steelers’ right cover stole the limelight with 57 tackle points in 24 matches, including 4 Super Tackles and 2 High 5s.

Meanwhile, captain Jaideep led from the front on and off the mat in PKL Season 11. Left cover forged a formidable partnership with Sanjay and concluded the season with 39 tackle points, 3 Super Tackles and 1 High 5s. The pair of Sanjay and Jaideep accumulated 96 tackle points in total in a memorable campaign for the Steelers.
