Youngsters Bharat, Naveen and Aslam to lead respective team’s charge in Pro Kabaddi Season 10

Before the start of every Pro Kabaddi season, teams aim to retain the best performing young players for the team ahead of the upcoming campaign. Similarly, the 12 franchises have retained some of the finest young players for PKL Season 10 as Pro Kabaddi gears up for its landmark 10th edition.

With the hope of these youngsters serving the respective franchises for years to come, retaining the right players is crucial for the success of teams both in the short and long term. After all, some of these Retained Young Players (RYPs) go on to form the core or spine of the team for years to come.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the most promising RYPs ahead of Pro Kabaddi Season 10.

Bharat | Bengaluru Bulls

Bharat was the most reliable player for Bengaluru Bulls in Pro Kabaddi Season 9. He was the second best raider in the tournament last season with 279 raid points. Bengaluru Bulls’ coach, Randhir Singh Sehrawat gave Bharat the freedom to express himself on the mat as a primary raider and the youngster didn’t disappoint. He had the joint-most Super Raids (11) and second joint-most Super 10s (16) last year and you can rest assured that he will be a nightmare for opposition defences in the upcoming season as well.

Naveen Kumar | Dabang Delhi K.C.

Naveen Express has always been a talisman for Dabang Delhi K.C. ever since his arrival on the big stage. He has shown immense maturity from a young age and has scored 200-plus raid points in the past three PKL seasons. He did a good job in his first assignment as a full-time PKL captain last year and managed to secure 254 raid points. Part of the RYP category, he has been named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in PKL twice already and Dabang Delhi K.C. will be expecting another solid display from him in Season 10 as both he and the franchise eye their second Pro Kabaddi title.

Aslam Inamdar | Puneri Paltan

Aslam Inamdar has transformed from an emerging raider to an established one for Puneri Paltan. After putting on a fabulous show in Season 8 with 169 raid points, the young gun proved his mettle in the following campaign as well by scoring 138 raid points despite not playing in all the games due to an injury. He was spot on when it came to claiming a bonus point against the opposition. Capable of producing in defence as well going by his 32 tackle points in PKL, Aslam Inamdar’s versatile style of play makes him a huge threat to any opposition defence.

Saurabh Nandal | Bengaluru Bulls

Saurabh Nandal has been with Bengaluru Bulls ever since joining Pro Kabaddi in Season 7. Nandal has been a smart operator in defence for the Bulls over the past three seasons. In Pro Kabaddi Season 9, he amassed 72 tackle points and was among the top three defenders of the campaign. Overall, he has managed 197 tackle points, 16 Super Tackles, and 10 High 5s in his career so far. Nandal will once again be expected to lead the defence by example despite being younger in age than his more experienced teammates in Season 10.

Sagar | Tamil Thalaivas

Sagar was sensational for Tamil Thalaivas in the ninth edition of PKL. When needed the most, he led the team from the front and scored 53 tackle points in Season 9 before suffering an injury. Like Nandal with the Bulls, Sagar has been a part of Tamil Thalaivas since the start of his PKL career in Season 7. He has grown as a player with each passing season and managed 82 tackle points in Season 8 having accumulated 22 tackle points in his debut campaign. Sagar will look to kick on once again in Season 10 and raiders won’t be eager to face off against him on the mat.
