Abhishek Bachchan left with his team, but the home crowd made up with numbers making sure the razzmatazz and razzle-dazzle of Pro-Kabaddi league continued unabated as Bengal Warriors entered the purple mat.
Bengal Warriors began disastrously conceding a 4 point to Dabang Delhi in the first two minutes. But a time out and a Plan B implementation early in the match from skipper Nilesh Shinde and coach Rajnarayan Sharma meant realigning their defence with Nilesh and Nitin moving to extreme right Praveen and Shyam hustling in the middle and Korean Jaang Kun Lee playing as a roving free man. Mahesh and Sachin played the false prober from the left. Bengal Warriors buckling up their defence and Nitin and Lee making penetrative raids meant Bengal established 15-11 lead midway through first half. For Delhi Amit and Shrikath were the best in attack showing agility, strength and great peripheral vision. Sachin Khambe, literally bled from the nose, as Bengal defence took a vice like grip over the rivals and the match. And a LONA in the last minutes from Nitin Madane meant Bengal lead swelled 28-14 at lemon break.
Delhi began the second half in a whirlwind manner taking four points on a trot and then effecting a LONA to move to 22 against Bengal's 30. Another time out and the fortunes reversed for Bengal. Now the defence played in three separate knots like islands floating about with the Delhi raiders unsure of their penetration. But Delhi had other ideas as they upped the ante taking the game to the home side levelling at 38 all with just 4 minutes remaining. Bengal found their form back combining three successful raids with double blocks turning the match into a cliff-hanger. With 40 seconds left for the match to end and a lead of just 1 point, Bengal took a technical timeout and a great defensive block meant the match's fate was sealed. Bengal won 42-40.
Jang Kun Lee was awarded the best raider for the night while Bengal Warror's Captain Nilesh Shinde took home best defender for the match.
