71st Senior National Men’s Kabaddi Championship, Day 2: 16 pre-quarter-final spots up for grabs

A total of 36 matches will be played on Day 2 of the 71st Senior National Men’s Kabaddi Championship in Cuttack, Odisha on Friday, February 21.

Organised by the Odisha Kabaddi Association, under the auspices of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI), the 71st Senior National Men’s Kabaddi Championship began on Thursday, February 20, with six league matches being staged on the opening day of the Championship.

All the 30 participating teams including defending champions Haryana and runners-up Railways will be in action on Day 2 of the kabaddi tournament.

Under the leadership of star raider Ashu Malik, Haryana will square off against Delhi in their second match after securing a 50-20 win over Telangana in their tournament opener on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Railways will take on Bihar in their final Pool B match as they look to book their place in the knockout round.

Featuring the likes of Arjun Deshwal and Rahul Chaudhari, Uttar Pradesh are scheduled to play three Pool H matches against Assam, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry on Day 2.

Elsewhere in Pool D, the Pawan Sehrawat-led Chandigarh will play their final two group matches against Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh in a bid to secure a pre-quarter-final spot.

As per the format, the top two teams from each pool will advance to the pre-quarterfinals after the conclusion of the group stage matches on Friday. The winners will later qualify for the quarter-finals, followed by two semi-finals and the final.

All matches in the 71st Senior National Kabaddi Championship will be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack.
