Ankush and Gaurav Khatri, in only their second PKL season during the 10th edition of the league, proved to be vital assets in the defence for their respective teams. Both star corner tacklers brought their A-game to the mat, strengthening the defences of Jaipur Pink Panthers and Puneri Paltan. They have all the capabilities to be consistent and reliable forces in defence of their respective sides.

Here we take a look at how these two corner defenders carried out their campaign in PKL Season 10.

Overall:

In PKL Season 10, Gaurav Khatri was in superb form and played a vital role for the defending champions, Puneri Paltan. He consistently added tackle points for his side and played all matches for the Paltan in his second PKL season. The right corner produced 72 points in 24 matches. On the other hand, Ankush was once again the best defender for Jaipur Pink Panthers, scoring 70 points in PKL Season 10.

The Paltan and the Panthers had strong raiding departments and didn’t need Gaurav and Ankush to contribute offensively. However, these defenders scored points at regular intervals, easing the pressure on their raiders and allowing them to play more freely.

Defence:

Gaurav Khatri displayed immense maturity for the Paltan, adding 69 tackle points with a tackle success rate of 59%. He was the eighth-best defender of PKL Season 10, with 113 tackle attempts and 67 successful tackles. In his second PKL season, Gaurav also produced two Super Tackles and four High 5s for Puneri Paltan.

Ankush continued his impressive performance from Season 9, becoming the top-scoring defender for the two-time champions, Jaipur Pink Panthers, in the 10th PKL edition. The left corner amassed 70 tackle points with a tackle success rate of 52%. Ankush attempted 120 tackles, of which 63 were successful. As the backbone of the Panthers' defence, he steadied the ship with seven Super Tackles and eight High 5s in Season 10.

Attack:

As these defenders focused primarily on their defensive duties in their second PKL season, Ankush did not attempt any raids. Gaurav, however, went for two raids and returned with two bonus points and a touchpoint for the Paltan.

Overall, Ankush and Gaurav Khatri demonstrated their defensive prowess and potential to become consistent and reliable forces in their respective teams’ defences.
