Dabang Delhi K.C. kept their perfect record in VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 7 intact with a 41-21 victory over Haryana Steelers at the DOME@NSCI SVP Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. Raiders Naveen Kumar and Chandran Ranjit both scored Super 10s in the match.
Chandran gave Dabang Delhi K.C. a good start, picking up a bonus and a touch point in the very first raid of the match. Naveen Kumar, too, got into the act as the two raiders picked up points in tandem. For Haryana Steelers, raider Naveen kept the scoreboard ticking and made sure Dabang Delhi K.C. didn't open up too big of a gap. Midway through the first half, the score stood 9-6 in Dabang Delhi K.C.'s favour.
A tackle by Dharmaraj Cheralathan on Meraj Sheykh and a touch point by Vinay did reduce Dabang Delhi K.C. to three players on the mat, but captain Joginder Narwal's Super Tackle on Naveen helped them avert an All-Out situation. A two-point raid by Naveen Kumar in a Do-or-Die situation further solidified Dabang Delhi K.C.'s position as they ended the first period with a 15-10 lead.
Naveen Kumar continued his rich vein of form in the second half and picked up three quick touch points to reduce Haryana Steelers to just a solitary man. Saeid Ghaffari added the finishing touch with a tackle on Arun Kumar to enforce the first All-Out of the match on Haryana Steelers.
Dabang Delhi K.C. kicked on from there on to open up a 29-13 lead, aided by some great defensive work by Ghaffari and some smart raiding by Chandran and Naveen Kumar. The latter soon completed his Super 10 as Dabang Delhi K.C. enforced another All-Out with 9 minutes to go.
Now with a 33-16 lead with 10 minutes to go, Dabang Delhi K.C. paced themselves and put in a disciplined display. With 90 seconds left on the clock, Chandran, too, reached his Super 10 as the match ended 41-21 in Dabang Delhi K.C.’s favour.
