Tamil Thalaivas’ Super Playoffs hopes might be over but captain Ajay Thakur proved on Tuesday that his side is going to put up a brave fight till the end as they ended U Mumba’s qualification hopes by handing them a 38-35 defeat in Jaipur. Thakur scored late once again and his 2-point raid in the closing seconds was what made the difference for his side.

Thakur has been known to be the lone hero for Tamil Thalaivas as he has single-handedly taken his side home on a number of occasions this season. On Tuesday, the Thalaivas once again failed to provide able support to Thakur but the World Cup hero took his side home with 15 raid points and one tackle point. The tackle too came in U Mumba’s last raid when their most effective raider Darshan Kadian was looking to pull things back for his side.

The Chennai captain will be disappointed with his side’s overall performance in the season but his personal form has been scintillating and he is currently third on the list of the league’s top raiders. He will look to get his side over the line in their 2 remaining matches as well to keep them from finishing at the bottom of Zone B in their debut season.
