The stage was set for fireworks to go off at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai as the top two teams of VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 5 locked horns for the coveted trophy. A match which was tipped to be evenly-contested was turned completely on its head by none other than the most valuable player of the season, Pardeep Narwal.

Narwal ended the high-pressure match with a mammoth tally of 19 points (15 raids and 4 bonuses), blowing away Gujarat’s formidable defence with super raids at crucial junctures to completely deflate Manpreet Singh’s men’s confidence. Gujarat was the only team to have thwarted Pardeep’s march in their previous encounters but on Saturday he made amends big time to take the game away from Gujarat in the most important match of the season.

Narwal’s performance in Season 5 has been phenomenal. The number of records he has to his name this season is almost difficult to keep count of. He finishes the season as the Most Valuable Player of the league - his second time in-a-row – as and best raider with 369 points from 26 matches.
